The passage of time

It was exactly two years ago today that my mother passed away. It suddenly struck me this morning what I had written in a Christmas card yesterday. It was to a friend I had lost touch with and I was catching her up on the last few years. I wrote to her that "Mother passed away around this time last year; it doesn't seem like it's been that long." I sealed the card and mailed it and never once thought about what I had said. Till this morning. How did two years pass so quickly! I still think of things I want to tell her, and have to remind myself that she isn't here.

Nearly four years for me, and I can hardly believe she and Dad are gone. So much has changed since then, but it still seems so fresh.
