On Face the Nation this morning, CBS newscaster Bob Schieffer made the following statement. "When the disaster struck, official Washington was like a dog watching television. It saw the bright lights and moving images, but it didn't comprehend the meaning of what it was seeing." That sums it up pretty well, don'tcha think?
